The paper provides an overview of contemporary management literature and practice in the field of human resource management on the topic of using coaching and mentoring as a tool for employee development. Accelerated development and fast changes in the business environment and the importance of the needs for lifelong learning and employee development, emphasizing the need for new methods of work aimed at employee development. The author presents the similarities and differences between coaching and mentoring, outlines the necessary conditions and ways for successful implementation of coaching and mentoring in modern organizations. The drivers of their development of these two methodologies are explained, as well as the benefits that employees and organizations have. Trends expected in this area are also presented.
